Education & Training
Education has always been a high priority for Hospice Isle of Man – not least because of the many different professions working together and because palliative care is provided in a variety of settings.
A life-limiting illness affects the body, the mind, the spirit, the social wellbeing, the family, and the care team. We strive to improve the skills, knowledge and attitudes of staff in all of these areas. Through education we are able to reach out to people who may never visit the hospice and help to improve their lives.
The Hospice’s commitment to education has been ongoing since its inception back in 1983. In order to meet key recommendations published in the NHS Cancer Plan (2000) and NICE Guidance – Improving Supportive and Palliative Care Services for Adults with Cancer (2004) this commitment is now even greater.
We offer palliative care education and training to those groups of staff and professionals who require to practice the palliative care approach for all patients who need it.
