From 9-15 October 2023, Hospice Care Week is a chance to highlight the important work we do for our patients, their loved ones and our community as a whole.
This year's theme is #WeAreHospiceCare so over the next few days we will be taking the opportunity to share some of our very own inspiring stories through a staff Q&A, highlighting some of our important services and exploring some of our recent service stats.
From clinical staff to our admin and retail colleagues, volunteers to maintenance, housekeeping and gardening, as well as our Board of Governors and Committee Members, each and every one of our Hospice family play a vital role in ensuring we are here for you. We are Hospice Care.
I enjoy the friendliness of the Hospice “family” and how everyone is working toward the same goal of providing compassionate care to patients and carers.
Possibly my proudest memory/story is starting the shared hearts project with our previous volunteer co-ordinator Cathy during Covid, it has become so popular.
My favourite thing about being part of the Hospice team is being part of a big “family” and the joy of caring for others in this speciality.
There have been some amazing memories including sharing the good times along with the sad times. I have made some amazing friendships.
Irrespective of what role you play or what team you are in, everyone that works for Hospice is totally focused on ensuring high quality care for our patients.
A patient’s relative wrote about me in her book. It made be proud to be a Palliative Care Nurse and be part of a fantastic team here at Hospice Isle of Man.
I’ve made good friends and cared for some amazing people, shared so much joy and laughter with colleagues, patients and families – even in very difficult situations.
I enjoy taking care of our people so that they, in all their different roles can contribute to Hospice taking amazing care of our patients and their families.
