Hospice is celebrating 30 years of care on the Isle of Man. As part of the charity’s a campaign of ongoing awareness and appreciation for the care that the charity has carried out over the last 30 years they are delighted to encourage the Manx public to commentate their donations in 2 different and innovative ways. Two metal artwork trees have been erected at Hospice.

The first is a Tree of Appreciation and is to commemorate donations ranging from £1,000 upwards. An everlasting inscription on the Tree of Appreciation starts off with a copper finish leaf to denote donations of £1,000 to £9,000; a silver finish leaf will denote donations of £10,000 to £50,000, donations of above £50,000 will be given a golden apple. The name of the donors will be inscribed on the leaf or apple. 15 characters are the maximum on any of the items.

The tree costs were covered by a very generous donation by Mr and Mr Watterson and the first golden apple was put onto the tree as a recognition of the support given by Steve and Allison McGowan. The Tree of Appreciation is located in Elaine’s Coffee shop in The Scholl Centre at Hospice.

The second tree is a smaller version of the first tree and is called a memory tree. Basically the donor buys a leaf for £100 to remember a loved one, a special occasion, birthday or anniversary. A silver leaf will be inscribed with the name (up to 15 characters). It is hoped that leaves will go up in the Spring and fall off in the Autumn. The leaf will be returned to the donor.

Mary Doyle added: “We are always try to generate income in new and innovative ways. As the Manx public is very generous with their general donations and in memoriam donations to Hospice it is hoped that these trees will in some way celebrate their generosity as we commemorate 30 years of care on the Isle of Man.”
