Compassionate Isle of Man.

Welcome

Recognising the importance of families, friends, neighbours and communities working alongside one another as well as our statutory services, Compassionate Isle of Man operates on the premise that tackling loneliness, and talking about death and dying is everyone’s business.

Aiming to transform societal attitudes and behaviours around death, dying, loneliness and isolation, Compassionate Isle of Man looks to enable and empower people to help and support one another at times of crisis, increasing health need, death, dying and bereavement.

By building resilience, promoting well-being, connecting with people and being kind, our initiative aims to create community connections and nurture a compassionate community to enhance the overall quality of Island-life by delivering a number of schemes.

Our community schemes

Sit and Chat Benches

The benches can be used by anyone, of any age, and will promote simple acts of kindness that could make a difference to people who might be living alone and needing human contact.

Back Home Boxes

'Back Home Boxes' contain essential, non-perishable groceries for people who live alone and are returning home following a stay in hospital or Hospice.

Palliative Care Companions

Specially trained volunteers who are there to help provide support to families at times of need.

A friend to the end

A friend to the end is a wonderful programme specifically designed to provide companionship and support to people in the last 72 hours of their life.

Social Cafés

Our Social Cafe events are all about getting people out of the house and meeting with others in a relaxed setting.

Compassionate Volunteers

As with Hospice Isle of Man's incredible army of volunteers, we are extrememly grateful for the support received from our caring and compassionate volunteers.

Advance Care Planning

Thinking ahead and writing your future health care preferences down in an Advance Care Plan will ensure that should you ever lack capacity to voice them yourself, your voice can still be heard.

Before I die I want to

Your comment is personal to you, and we would love to hear all about what you want to do before you die, so please get involved and share the opportunity with your friends and family.
