Creative Wellness Service

Introduction

Hospice offers Creative Wellbeing Sessions to patients, their relatives or careers, led by our Creative Arts Coordinator, with the aim to provide a relaxed, non-judgemental creative space for both adults and children whom wish to express themselves artistically and boost overall wellness.

Who can benefit from these sessions?

Anyone can benefit from these sessions, as they will very much be tailored to the person involved, regardless of age and cognitive ability/physical mobility. The person being referred does not have to have a background in art but to simply show an interest in alternative communication and creative expression. Following referral, our Creative Arts Coordinator will meet with the person to see what they would like to explore creatively, this can include, play, music, drawing, painting, sculpture or anything along those lines.

Session Structure

Initially individuals will be offered a 45 minute taster session to see if the patient would like to continue. Following this the creative sessions will take place over the course of 6 sessions lasting up to 1 hour each. The frequency and number of sessions may vary in line with the individual’s needs especially if the patient is receiving end-of-life care. After the 6 sessions, the patient will undergo a review to see if they would benefit from further sessions or onward referral to other Hospice Services. Please click here to see the set timetable for our upcoming sessions.
