Schwartz Round

Hospice Isle of Man, in conjunction with Manx Care, facilitates Schwartz Rounds.

Schwartz Rounds are an informal forum designed for clinical and non-clinical staff to come together to discuss and reflect on the emotional and social challenges associated with working in healthcare.

All Schwartz Rounds are held at lunch time (13:00-14:00) at Keyll Darree.

We invite three people to share their 5 minute stories for the first 15-20 minutes. The stories are based on their own personal experiences - the emphasis is on the emotional impact on them.

We follow with an open discussion - we find that most stories automatically generate interest, empathy and the sharing of similar experiences. The key to the discussion is that the facilitator guides the session so that it remains reflective and does not become a space to solve problems.

The facilitator will remind all participants that Rounds are safe, confidential space in which patient and staff identities are always protected.

Check back regularly for more information about the next set of Schwartz Rounds.
