Breaking Bad News

A session for healthcare professionals to explore what 'bad news' could be and how to have a sensitive and honest conversation with patients and those who matter to them.

 

At the end of the course I will be able to:

  • Discuss what we mean by "bad news"
  • Utilise a range of skills to improve communication, empathy, questioning skills, listening skills
  • Accurately assess and gauge information needs prior to delivering significant information.
  • Handle patient cues and how thy are relevant when delivering significant information
  • Tailor significant and complex information to individual needs
  • Handle patents' emotions more effectively
