Communication Intermediate Level

At the end of the course I will be able to:

  • Discuss blocks to good communication
  • Describe the interpersonal skills that are essential for health care professionals
  • Follow best practice when imparting Bad News
  • Understand models of communication
  • Discuss useful strategies when dealing with emotions, difficult situations
  • Use role play to explore collusion denial, breaking bad news and angry behaviour
  • Understand the importance of health and wellbeing
  • Be able to communicate sensitively with individuals and those important to them on a range of complex matters relating to end of life care, in a non-judgemental, empathetic, genuine, collaborative and supportive manner that is appropriate to them and the situation
