John Mulvey Sculpture Draw

Archive

John Mulvey is an internationally renowned and award winning British sculptor who specialises in figurative, abstract and contemporary works. John is self-taught and has exhibited extensively in the UK, Europe and New York and his work is in private collections all over the world. He began his artistic career in 1971 from a background in sheet metal work and the high quality of his work, in particular the sense of movement he creates while maintaining simplicity of form and economy of line, has earned him many commissions not least from Rolls Royce, The Paratroop Regiment and the UK Lottery.

More recently, in 2021 John was commissioned to create a sculpture, in his preferred medium of bronze, to take pride of place in the newly created cultural area on Harris Promenade, Douglas, Isle of Man. John and his wife Mary now live on the island however John’s art pieces are collected worldwide and rarely become available on the open market, thus Hospice Isle of Man is extremely fortunate to have been donated one of John’s pieces to aid our fundraising efforts. This striking figurative solid bronze sand casting of dolphins rising with stunning fluidity from a green marble base is number 4 of just 12 similar pieces created by John in 1988, with the other 11 sculptures are all believed to be within private collections. The total height of the sculpture is 28” with a width of 8” across the base with a market value of approximately £3,000.

This piece is being made available through a ticketed prize draw in line with John and Mary’s wishes that as many people as possible may have the chance of owning such a significant sculpture whilst raising as much money as possible to help support Hospice Isle of Man.

The draw will take place on Wednesday 12th October 2022. Tickets are priced at just £10 with a limited draw of 1000, so make sure to get your tickets quick!
