Hospice Coffee Van meets Rising Demand from Office Car Parks to Festival Grounds!

Just one year after it first took to the road, the Hospice Isle of Man “Care for a Drink” coffee van, sponsored by Flutter International, is firmly established as a popular choice for workplace treats and public events. This year alone the van has served staff and visitors at Prospero, CM Partners, Suez, Strix and the Hospice Superstore, kept runners and rally crews fueled at the Hospice Half Marathon and Manx Rally, and warmed crowds at the Oie Voaldyn fire festival. Confirmed bookings ahead include the Peel Carnival, Noble’s Park Fun Day and Tynwald Day, together with a new monthly appearance at Isle of Man Constabulary headquarters.

Vanessa Smith, Head of Income Generation at Hospice Isle of Man, said “What began as a simple fundraising idea has taken on a life of its own. Workplaces love the convenience of a mobile coffee shop offering customisable treats, and festivals appreciate a quality coffee experience that can set up virtually anywhere. Most of all, people like knowing that every latte helps pay for Hospice care. We’re inviting corporates and event organisers alike to join us in making a tangible difference for patients and families across the Island.”

The van is self-contained, needing only a safely accessible parking spot before baristas begin pouring Praego coffee, selected for both its rich flavour and the brand’s community projects in Rwanda. There is no hire fee; hosts can either treat their guests or allow people to pay as they go. Menu highlights include barista coffee, tea or hot chocolate at £3; cakes at £3; sandwiches at £3.50; a coffee-and-cake combo at £6; and a newly launched picnic box – complete with sandwich, small fruit salad, cake and a hot drink – at £15.

Early adopters are already asking for return visits:

Prospero, which hosted the van for an employee appreciation day, reported: “Colleagues were still talking about the feel-good buzz the next morning. Someone actually hugged me in thanks! It was the easiest wellbeing initiative we have run—and it raised money for Hospice.”

Strix, after welcoming the van to two sites, wrote: “The picnic boxes were generous, beautifully presented and paired perfectly with the barista coffees. Your friendly team created a relaxed atmosphere where staff mixed without talking shop. We would love this to become an annual tradition.”
