Our London Marathon Runners; Shannon Dillard!

We are delighted to introduce you to our fourth and final London Marathon runner; Shannon Dillard.

Shannon, originally from New York, will be joining our Hospice Marathon team twice in 2026. Alongside her husband, Stephen, Shannon will take on the London Marathon and return later in the year to run the Dublin Marathon in October, both in support of Hospice Isle of Man

A keen and experienced runner, 2026 will mark Shannon’s 15th marathon and her fifth major. Having visited the Island on several occasions, Shannon and Stephen have grown to love it dearly.

Hospice holds a very special place in Shannon’s heart following the care her father received during his final moments. She is passionate about ensuring Hospice Isle of Man can continue to give other families those precious moments together when they matter most. When asked why she wanted to support Hospice Care, Shannon gave us some beautiful words about her dad’s last moments:

“The hospice team took beautiful care of him and gave us priceless moments together; talking, visiting, and watching hummingbirds outside his window. One day, my mom called to say he had fallen asleep and wouldn’t be waking up. When I arrived, she and my sister told me the nurses said he could still hear us, so they played music for him. My mom played her and my dad’s wedding song, Perhaps Love. My sister played theirs, Thank Heaven for Little Girls.

When they told me this, I burst out laughing. I said there was no way I could play mine and dads song. My mom laughed and insisted I had to, he’d love it. So I sat on his bed, warned him I didn’t mean it, and played Hit the Road Jack.”

Thank you Shannon for your incredible support, and we wish you every success in the marathons ahead!

Support Shannon here!

Huge good luck to all our incredible London Marathon runners for this weekend!
