This year’s Honda Grom prize draw is proudly sponsored in loving memory of Robert “Sharky” Meijer, thanks to the incredible generosity of his friends and fellow motorbike riders.
Together, Black Bush Connexion Switzerland, Black Bush Connexion Holland, the Moddey Dhoo Motorcycle Club, Andy Scullard and Hazel Dunnington, Sven and Bev Fromm, Rudi & Rita Koenig, and Phil Carter have donated an amazing £5,000 to Hospice Isle of Man to sponsor this exciting competition.
Sharky joined Black Bush Connexion Holland in 1993, and during a 2002 trip to the Isle of Man TT, he formed lasting friendships with members of the Moddey Dhoo Motorcycle Club. Although he spent time living in France and the UK, the Island ultimately became his home. Following a cancer diagnosis in early 2025, Sharky was cared for at home with the support of his friends before being admitted to Noble’s Hospital just before Christmas. He was later transferred to Hospice Isle of Man, where he received outstanding care until his passing.
His friends have shared their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice team, and hope that this £5,000 donation, alongside proceeds from the Honda Grom draw, will help support many others in their time of need. Thank you to everyone involved for honouring Sharky’s memory in such a meaningful way. Tickets for the competition will be on sale at the TT Motorshow in Peel on June 4th.
