Board of Governors 'Hat Activities' - Michele Moroney

Here at Hospice, our Board of Governors like to get involved where they can to gain a greater understanding of the different roles and responsibilities of our teams.

Over the last couple of years, one of our Board members has been randomly selected at a time to participate in a variety of different activities and initiatives across our charity. This allows them to collaborate with different members of our team, and gain a deeper insight into our day-to-day operations that takes place to support our patients and their loved ones.

Next to get involved was Michele Moroney. Michele took part in one of our Fatigue and Breathlessness sessions. Of her time, she said: "The FAB session was part of a six-week program, led by Jo (OT), Suzy (physio), Amanda (HCA/organizer), and a volunteer. Four attendees, aged 68 to 90, with lung cancer or chronic lung conditions, participated in stretching, breathing exercises, strength, balance, and aerobic activities. The session also included a group discussion on sleep and relaxation, followed by tea and fruit kebabs. As it was the 5th session, the group had bonded well, sharing their experiences and challenges. It was encouraging to see the progress in exercise tolerance, strength, and balance, reflecting the positive impact of the program. The staff were highly engaged, demonstrating a deep understanding of the patients’ medical and social needs. The session highlighted the importance of working on balance and core strength.”

Many thanks to Michele for actively engaging with us and taking the time to become better acquainted with our team!
