Caring for someone with a life-limiting illness is one of the most selfless acts of love. Yet, even the most devoted caregivers need time to rest, recharge, and care for themselves. In response to this vital need, Hospice Isle of Man is proud to offer a Private Respite Care service, expert, personalised care in a warm, peaceful environment, providing support for patients and invaluable relief for their caregivers.
Delivered by Hospice’s experienced palliative care team, this new service offers a safe, comfortable space for people with life-limiting illnesses, while their loved ones take a well-earned break. Whether it’s a few days or a planned short stay, Hospice Respite Care gives peace of mind and high-quality support at a time when it’s most needed.
“Our Respite Care service is about giving caregivers the chance to rest, while ensuring their loved ones are receiving expert care in a calm and nurturing environment,” said Vicky Wilson, Head of Children, Young People, In Patient Services and Therapies at Hospice Isle of Man. “It’s compassionate care for the whole family and every stay helps us continue providing free palliative care for others across the Island.”
Hospice Respite Care provides specialist, person-centred support delivered 24/7 by experienced hospice nurses. Each stay is guided by a tailored care plan, designed to meet the individual’s specific condition, preferences, and needs. With a high staff-to-patient ratio, the service ensures dedicated, individualised attention in a warm and welcoming environment. The setting includes beautiful, calming surroundings, tranquil gardens, and thoughtfully designed rooms that offer comfort and peace. For carers, it offers reassurance and peace of mind, knowing their loved one is in safe, compassionate hands. Crucially, every private stay helps support Hospice Isle of Man’s mission to provide free end of life care to others within the wider community.
Private Respite Care is available to individuals with a life-limiting illness or severe, irreversible disabilities. It is ideal for people in a stable phase of their condition, who can safely return home after their stay, and whose carers would benefit from a planned period of rest.
Accessing respite care is simple:
The cost of a private respite stay is £1,950 per week, reflecting the high standard of round-the-clock care, beautiful facilities, and personalised experience provided. Importantly, this income helps sustain the Hospice’s ability to offer free palliative and end of life care to those most in need across the Island.
