Take on the Happiness Hike: Lake District 6 Lakes Challenge for Hospice Isle of Man

Hospice Isle of Man is inviting supporters to lace up their walking boots for an unforgettable adventure, the Happiness Hike: Lake District 6 Lakes Challenge, taking place from 8th to 13th September 2026. Following the success of the inaugural Happiness Hike earlier this year, this will be the second annual challenge, offering participants another chance to combine adventure with a meaningful cause.

This five-night guided walking holiday offers the perfect balance of exploration, activity, and purpose. Participants will stay in one comfortable, centrally located hotel and spend four days discovering six of the Lake District’s most stunning lakes. Led by expert guide Ken from Walking.im, the challenge includes approximately 35 miles of manageable walking and a total ascent of around 3,200 feet, making it a relaxing walk and within the capability of most. Each day brings new scenery and experiences, from panoramic viewpoints and charming villages to cultural highlights such as Wordsworth’s heritage sites, Hill Top Farm, and the Honister Slate Mine.

But this trip is about more than beautiful landscapes, it’s about making a meaningful difference. Participants are encouraged to fundraise in support of Hospice Isle of Man, helping to provide vital, compassionate care for people across the Island. Every step taken can help ease a patient’s journey at Hospice and bring comfort during a difficult time.

Amanda Haxby, who joined the first Happiness Hike, said “The Happiness Hike was my first walking event and exceeded all my expectations. The Northumberland coast didn’t disappoint and the walks, whilst challenging were really enjoyable and scenic. The group was amazing and our guide Ken was extremely knowledgeable and personable. The hotel was excellent as were the restaurants we dined in. An extremely well organised walking tour and one which I would happily do again”.

“The Happiness Hike is a wonderful opportunity to combine adventure, friendship, and purpose,” added Susan Gibson, Donor Engagement Executive at Hospice Isle of Man. “We’re thrilled to offer this experience again following the success of the first hike, and we hope even more people will join us this September.”
